KUALA LUMPUR 28 Sept. – Amerika Syarikat (AS) melihat Malaysia sebagai sebuah negara contoh bagi masyarakat majmuk dan terbuka. Timbalan Setiausaha Negara AS, James B. Steinberg justeru berkata, negaranya menghargai minat Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak untuk mengukuhkan hubungan dua hala di antara Malaysia dan AS. ”Presiden Barack Obama dan Setiausaha Negara, Hillary Clinton memberi keutamaan kepada usaha mengukuhkan hubungan dengan Asia Tenggara dan negara anggota ASEAN. ”AS juga melihat peluang untuk membina hubungan lebih produktif dengan Malaysia yang sudah pun menjadi rakan baik AS selama ini,” katanya.
